Welcome to another episode of Worlds Collide—the series that brings the winning perspectives of two of the shooting world's top minds, Rob Pincus (Personal Defense Network®) and Rob Leatham (Team Springfield™).
In this episode, Rob and Rob demonstrate the differences of developing skills in a competition context, versus a self-defense scenario.
Whether you're putting in some time at the range, engaging in a shooting competition or trying your hand at a defensive-shooting class, the fundamentals always apply—from safety and trigger press to proper grip and stance.
However, there are techniques more applicable to competition shooting than to defensive shooting—and vice versa.
For example, in a competition, you will have a distinct start and finish to the event. And you will know before hand where that is. But in a self-defense scenario, your "start" is most likely going to be a surprise and you won't know it's over until long after it actually is.
