Springfield in the News: Shout-outs to our Newest Firearms

With SHOT Show 2016 behind us, Springfield Armory® is proud to unveil its latest set of firearms. With new entries in many of our trusty, fan-favorite series, we got some love online from some of our favorite publications and fans.

Tactical Life stopped by our law-enforcement (LE) booth at SHOT Show 2016 to cover our new M1A™ SOCOM 16 CQB. Our resident LE expert, Steve Horsman, discussed the highlights of the latest rifle, including the adjustable, multi-collapsible stock.

Military.com filmed our SOCOM 16 CQB in action during SHOT Show’s Industry Day at the Range 2016 and highlighted the features on our lightweight rifle. (They also included a rundown of what makes the firearm a great option here.)

Miles Vining of The Firearm Blog covered our SOCOM 16 CQB, discussing the use of the pistol grip (or the traditional “AK grip”) for better grip angles and the benefits of the factory- ready tactical rifle.

GunsAmerica shot our new rifle, discussing the tactical advantages of the SOCOM 16 CQB, as well as highlighting the quality aspects of the gun for close-quarters combat.

Nick Leghorn at TheTruthAboutGuns.com tests out the new CQB on the range.

Guns Holsters and Gear includes the CQB on its list of new long guns at SHOT Show.

1911 EMP® 4" Lightweight Champion™ 9mm


Watch Tactical Life overview the newest addition to our family of Enhanced Micro Pistols, the EMP® 4". Steve Horsman explains the features, including a fiber-optic front sight; a two-dot, low-profile, combat rear sight; and the added advantage of a full-size 1911 length grip, allowing for a positive shooting experience.

Concealed Nation captured a demo from Team Springfield™'s Rob Leatham down at the range at SHOT Show, where he offered a quick-hit list of some of the newest pistols Springfield has to offer.

The Firearm Blog featured the new EMP® 4" on its YouTube channel, with an on-the-range review.

American Rifleman took note of the new pistol's increased frame height and two-handed grip capability, as well as its increased capacity.

USACarry.com offered its review of the latest Springfield 1911, shouting out its medium-distance accuracy, its single-action trigger and its "just right" weight and size.

Finally, Ammoland offered up its own review of the new Lightweight Champion™, citing its definite an identifiable reset point, quick sight alignment and increased velocity has key benefits.

XD-S® Series


The NSSF continues its coverage of SHOT Show 2016’s Industry Day at the Range with Rob Leatham demonstrating the capabilities of the XD-S®, now offered in .40SW caliber. Leatham covers the benefits of the gun, as well as explains that Springfield Armory® is the first company to offer a compact pistol of its size in 9mm, .40SW and .45ACP calibers.

Shooting Wire shouted out Springfield's mention on The Outdoor Channel's Guns & Gear series.

Alien Gear Holsters highlighted the new Single Stack as part of its rundown of the latest concealed carry firearms at SHOT Show 2016.

American Rifleman featured the new Crimson Trace® Laserguard® model of XD-S® as part of its SHOT Show 2016 coverage, touting its practicality in high-stress situations.

The .40SW got a shout-out courtesy of Robert Farago on TheTruthAboutGuns.com

The Firearm Blog featured the .40SW, citing its capacity and slimness as among its best attributes.

Personal Defense World tries the .40SW on for size, with footage of the pistol in action. They mention the firearm's weight and balance in the shooter's hand as highlights of the experience.

Spec Ops and Ammoland took the time to feature the .40SW model upon its release in January.

The .40SW was featured in an article on GunsAmerica including shots of the packaging and what's included with the purchase.

Concealed Nation reviews the 3.3" model, complete with video rundown of what makes it a great concealed carry pistol.

Guns and Ammo hyped the concealability of the new .40SW model among its best attributes.

XD® Mod.2™ 5" Tactical Model


GunsAmerica highlights changes to the XD® line of pistols, including the 3" Sub-Compact, the 4" Service Model and the 5" Tactiacl Model, by trying them on for size on the range. (They even featured it on their YouTube channel here.)

The Firearm Blog and AllOutdoor.com provide intros to the new Tactical Model, particularly highlighting its use versatility, grip and low-profile sights.

Spec Ops, Tactical Life and Guns and Ammo take a look at the new model, noting its fast-aiming, extra-long sight radius and added velocity.

American Rifleman touts the superiority of the Tactical Model's simplified target acquisition and competition-ready size, weight and feel.

XD(M)® 4.5" .45ACP Threaded


Guns and Ammo offers its insights into the new model, including a video demo.

Gun Nuts featured the 4.5" in its Gun Up Magazine, highlighting the key features and the Flat Dark Earth finish.

Tactical Life and American Rifleman highlighted both of Springfield's new suppressor-ready handguns, including the 9mm and .45ACP calibers.

The Firearm Blog breaks down the key features and benefits of the 4.5" 9mm, including closeup shots of the firearm.

Guns America offers up the important aspects about the new XD(M)®, including what makes the threaded barrel special and the specs of the firearm.

NSSF featured a video with Roy Huntington explaining the merits of the new XD(M)® pistol.

Other Coverage


Guns Holsters and Gear presented the latest additions to the handgun market after covering SHOT Show 2016. Among the firearms included in the list are our XD® Mod.2™ 5" tactical model, the XD-S® with Crimson Trace® Laserguard®, the XD(M)® with Threaded Barrel, the Range Officer® (now offered in stainless steel), the XD® Mod.2™ Sub-Compact offered in Flat Dark Earth and our Springfield Armory® XD-S® in .40SW caliber.

Shooting Illustrated stopped by our booth at Industry Day at the Range to cover the latest offerings from our 2016 lineup of new products. Rob Leatham, captain of Team Springfield™, demonstrated his shooting prowess by firing each new pistol discussed and highlighted the overall benefits of each, including the XD® Mod.2™ 5", the EMP® 4", the RO Operator® in 9mm and the XD(M)® 4.5" with Threaded Barrel.

Purple Mountain Outdoors filmed our full range of new products released for 2016 during this year’s SHOT Show at our booth. Our team member, Dawn, gave a first-hand look at each model and highlighted the added benefits and features for consumers.

Concealed Carry Nation caugh up with Rob Leatham during Media Day, capturing a tour of the Springfield booth and reviews of our latest models.

GunsAmerica gave Springfield some love with coverage of the 1950 new product launch promotion in January.

Guns and Ammo also gave a shout-out to the 1950 promotion, highlighting the new suppressor-ready and laser-compatible models now available to Springfield fans.
