The SAINT™ with Free Float Handguard and Its First Match

With more than 20 years in law enforcement, I have carried a variety of AR weapon systems. Always a huge fan of Springfield Armory®, I was pumped in 2016 when I heard that they were releasing their first AR—the SAINT™.  In anticipation of its availability, I got on the wait list and purchased the very first SAINT that my favorite gun dealer received.

In the following six months, I exclusively shot my SAINT™ rifle during training, while instructing classes and in a variety of 2-and-3-gun matches. Firing more than 2,000 rounds during this time period (a combination of budget-minded .223 ammunition, XM193 and duty ammo), the rifle never hiccuped and ran with no malfunctions.

One of my favorite things in this world is when I get a new gun. And whether it is a rifle or handgun, it’s an equally good day. A very close second "good day" is when I buy a new optic for one of my rifles, because that means I get to mount it and sight/zero the gun in.

Let's break down the zeroing-in ritual.

Springfield's Newest SAINT™ Rifle Features

Posted by Kyle Schmidt

Although a stock SAINT™ rifle is perfect for the vast majority of gun owners, there are many who understand and appreciate the value of some slight - but significant - modifications. One of my main uses of the SAINT™ rifle is for competition. Generally speaking, in multi-gun events, the match directors try to test the shooter in a wide array of shooting challenges. Some are challenges of speed, some are of manipulation and some are accuracy-intensive.

There are a few essential modifications that I like to make to my rifles, and I'm happy to see that two of these modifications are now standard in the new SAINT™ rifle.

Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese Update on the House Judicial Criminal Committee: Opposing (SB1657)

Posted by Dennis Reese

This morning the House Judicial Criminal Committee convened a hearing on SB1657. I submitted a witness slip that serves as a request to testify. I wanted the committee to know how strongly I object to this legislation that attacks Second Amendment rights, would close small businesses, harm the Illinois economy and damage the firearm industry as a whole.

The Executive Director of the Illinois Firearm Manufacturers Association (IFMA) acted without our prior knowledge and against our principles and those of the industry as a whole with respect to the Gun Dealer Licensing Act. We no longer have confidence in IFMA and after speaking to other directors we have made the decision to sever all ties with the organization, effective immediately.

Springfield Armory has always fought hand-in-hand with the NRA, NSSF, ISRA and many others for legislation that fiercely protects the Second Amendment, individual rights and the industry as a whole. Our fight continues today as some members of the Illinois legislature are pushing to overregulate the industry through Gun Dealer Licensing Act (SB1657).

Recommendations, Rules and Essential Skills for All New Shooters

Posted by Kippi Leatham

I wasn’t introduced to firearms until I was 23 years young. But even as a new shooter, I always viewed my pistol as another tool in my toolbox of life skills. It’s a piece of equipment, like my 9 iron, that I want to have the utmost ability and confidence with when it comes to taking that shot, whether onto the green of the first hole or to knock down that 25-yard steel pepper popper during an IPSC World Championship.

Learning to shoot pistols and getting into competitions completely changed my life for the better.
