If you've been looking around for a new concealed carry pistol, you probably haven't had trouble finding options and availability. Even within the Springfield Armory® product lines, there are an abundance of 1911s and a large selection of polymer handguns from which to pick. If you're still feeling undecided, here’s a pointer—check out our XD(M)® series and what we think are a few good reasons to carry an XD(M)®.

Length and Caliber

Barrel length is an important consideration for concealed carry. Some people find a longer-barreled pistol uncomfortable to carry, hence the popularity of compacts among concealed carrying gun owners.

The XD(M)® series has a variety of barrel length options to select from, starting with a compact 3.8” model. So, no matter what your preference, there’s an XD(M)® to fit your size demand.

Let’s not forget caliber, either. Each of us has an opinion on the caliber we prefer to carry. But regardless of which one of the "big three" it is, there’s an XD(M)® to fit the bill. All models are available in 9mm, and most models come in .40SW and/or .45ACP.

Ergonomics

One of the keys to shooting quickly and accurately is getting and keeping a firm grip on your pistol. The XD(M)® series features grip texturing that allows for solid, constant hand contact - but texturing that isn't too rough.

The XD(M)® Series also has three interchangeable backstraps, allowing you to fine-tune the grip to perfectly fit your hand.  The benefits of a perfect fit and grip cannot be overstated.

And the grip safety and ambidextrous mag release make the XD(M)® a great choice, regardless of whether you’re right-handed or a south paw.

Fiber-Optic AND RED DOT Sights

Poor eyesight? No worries, XD(M)® pistols have fiber-optic front sights along with low-profile, rear combat sights that make aiming both quick and precise.

The 4.5” OSP even comes with a Vortex Venom red-dot sight pre-installed. While not everyone's Cup-of-Joe, red-dot sights often make vision and aiming concerns less of a problem.

Size and Weight

Weighing in at around 29 ounces with an empty mag and just more than an inch wide in the grip, the XD(M)® won’t feel burdensome on your hip or in your hand.

Capacity

With greater size, comes greater capacity. And greater potential for capacity. One of the beauties of the XD(M)® Series is that it's a firearm with a generally higher magazine capacity than many of its contemporaries. The compact models in this series along with their flush fitting compact magazine also allow for an extended higher capacity magazine with our grip sleeve system. So with a push of the mag release button, you can go from small and concealable to larger with full capacity, all in the same gun.
